Armenian-Episcopal Ecumenical Service Held in Glendale to Remember Victims of Genocide

On Wednesday, April 25th, 2007, continuing a tradition which began last year, a joint ecumenical service was held at St. Marks Episcopal Church in Glendale in remembrance of the Victims of the Armenian Genocide. The homilist for the evening was Prof. Richard Dekmejian, of the University of Southern California. Choirs from both churches were in attendance, and they performed their respective hymns throughout the service. The following clergy were in attendance: Abp. Hovnan Derderian, Abp. Vatche Hovsepian, Very Rev. Fr. Dajad Yardemian, Fr. Zaven Arzoumanian, Fr. Arshag Khatchadourian, Fr. Nishan Belerian, Fr. Hovsep Hagopian, Fr. Tavit Zelvayan, Fr. Mikael Kyureghyan, Fr. Vazken Movsessian, Fr. Zaven Margosyan, Fr. Zareh Mansuryan, Dn. Mayis Shahbazian, Dn. Kevork Halladjian, Dn. Mkrtich Ksachikian.

This event was coordinated by Fr. Vazken Movsessian of St. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church of Glendale in conjunction with Fr. Mark Weitzal of St. Mark Episcopal Church of Glendale and is the latest result of the ongoing and beneficial dialogue between the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church and the Episcopal Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
