Western Diocese

In the afternoon, at 1:30, His Eminence Cardinal Roger Mahony, the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, met with His Holiness at the Diocesan Headquarters. Rt. Rev. Alexei Smith, officer of the Ecumenical and Interreligious affairs, and the representative of His Eminence Cardinal Roger Mahony was also present at the meeting. The Cardinal expressed his happiness for His Holiness’s Third Pontifical Visit to Los Angeles, wishing success to His Holiness in his mission. The Cardinal was warmly received and an elegant reception followed the spirited and cordial conversation.

On this occasion, we would like to once again express our appreciation to His Eminence Cardinal Mahony that hosted and presided over a magnificent event honoring the 80^th anniversary of the Western Diocese, on Sunday, August 26, 2007, at St. James the Less Roman Catholic Church, demonstrating the excellent relationship between the Roman Catholic and Armenian Churches.
