Jacque Hagopian Tribute Evening

On Wednesday, November 21, 2007, a special evening of tribute to poet Jacque Hagopian took place at the Kalaydjian Hall of the Western Diocese. The Primate, His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian and the Vicar General of the Western Diocese, the Very Rev. Fr. Dajad Dz. V. Yardemian, were present at the event.

Mr. Parsegh Kartalian offered the opening remarks as well as a biographical presentation about the poet. Sargis Vahagen and Osheen Keshishian also spoke about the works of Jacque Hagopian. Several songs based on the poems of Jacque Hagopian were also performed during the evening.

Dn. Vahe Abovian recited two poems from Jaque Hagopian: "Father, Teach Armenian," and "On the Foreign Door Steps." His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian praised Jacque Hagopian both as a distinguished human being and a distinguished poet, stressing his long years of service in the realm of education.
