Primate Celebrates Divine Liturgy at St. Peter, Van Nuys; Marks 25th Anniversary of Gomidas Choir

On Sunday, May 18, 2008, His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate, celebrated Divine Liturgy and delivered the sermon at St. Peter Armenian Church in Van Nuys. Archpriest Fr. Shnork Demirjian and several deacons assisted the Primate during the church service.

The Primate in his remarks reflected on the significance of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Gomidas Choir. His Eminence evoked the memory of the founder of the Choir, late Archpriest Fr. Shahe Semirjian. Several members who had served in the Gomidas Choir for more than 20 years received letters of commendation from the Primate. The honorees were Aved Artinian, Kevork Artinian, Aret Varjabedian, Mari Varjabedian, Yetvart Corluyan, Varujan Panosyan and Ohannes Sabuncu.

On the joyous occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Gomidas Choir a reception was held on Saturday May 17, 2008, at the hall of the church.
